Time for some updates!

First comes the fact that the car has now passed the rigorous emissions and noise tests with flying colors. The adaptions made by the garage were all that was needed: New cat and an additional center muffler (Mittelschalldämpfer). That hurdle is taken, next up MFK.

I did have an appointment at MFK to get the car tested and hopefully accepted. First off: I still have work to do.
The expert was very happy with the condition of the car (no rust, everything working perfectly), so he was visibly pained by not being able to let it pass. Reason for not passing, is that the suspension is obviously not stock. In total I have to do something about all these parts:
1) Suspension including stabilizers
2) Steel braided brake hoses
3) Strut bar in the front (crash safety)
4) Wheels
Either I need a paper for all of the parts that shows they've been tested (=expensive), or I have to find another way.



Either way, at this year's Japan Classic meet, I met the expert from Toyota that I had been in contact with about the car and Swiss regulations. He was very helpful by providing me with a paper that tells officially that the car is mechanically identical to the Swiss homologated AE86 from back in the day. So I am now free to get parts with Swiss papers and add them to the car.
What he also did, was to write that TRD is actually part of Toyota and thus TRD parts would be considered as original on this specific vehicle. What this would mean at MFK, I don't know yet, I'll have a chat with the expert at MFK for that. If he agrees, then I might be able to get suspension parts from TRD without having to have a Swiss paper for them.

Current course of action:
1) Get the G'Reddy suspension kit *link* and the Cusco stabilizers *link*
2) Figure out what to do about braided brake hoses
3) Try to argue that a TRD strut bar would be considered original
4) Get the A3A tested and get the proper paperwork, unless there's a company that's willing to make that paper for me

So, on to the next round of paperwork!
