The ultimate cleaning agent for paint is paint thinner. But sometimes it will not work for old paint.


Thinners should be OK.

I had to repair a dash recently, which had a big split across the top of the cowling.

I'm pretty sure I used thinners on it at one time or another, either to clean it or to prepare it for painting.
