Cars are usually very poorly built compared to electronics, there will be some resistance across body points. Unless there has been water damage or another problem, the factory grounds usually are good enough. There is a lot of resistance beetwen ECU ground and the body. To be sure I've checked the ground of connector from ventilation, and it had no resistance to the body at all. So you can tell if they are burned out, because sometimes they do. I mean the bulb burned and the bulb doesn't work... It wouldn't even get the signal if something is wrong... they wouldn't burn out.
