On my daily-driver 86 all of the rev problems i had (and believe me they weren't that few) were all fixed by replacing some part of the t-vis.
It may also be distributor/igniter faulty... Try to check the vaccum tank (its a black plastic small tank just below the intake manifold), see if the air is blown only one-way. (You can do this by blowing with your mouth directly through it). If not replace and check the little relay next to it for continuity as shown on the manual.
