Oh and also.... I guess the weight differences are because of the:
- A/C, power steering, and some other mandaotry extras like door reinforcements etc.... |

also the USDM cars had to have 5mph safety bumpers. They're about 40lbs heavier than the JDM and EUDM ones

damusto.... You need to be careful... not ALL the info out there is accurate.
There are 2 engine offerings dependent on where in the world you lived. The 4AGE TVIS engine came through with 2 different pistons - 9.4 to 1, and 10.0 to 1. THIS is why there is some power discrepancies. The piston difference determines if your car was originally equipped with a catalyst (catalytic converter) 9.4 to 1 came with cat, 10 to one no cat. Besides the piston difference, there is also a fuel injection difference that does NOT necessarily match the piston difference. The 2 types of fuel injection are either an air flow meter based system, or a vacuum sensor based (MAP) system. NOT all US cars got A/C, sunroof, electric windows, power mirrors, rear wiper.... some came through without any of these options. Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! Sorry guys but dont really understand ?
Anyway. I think that I know what is the difference between European and U.S. door version. Take a look at photos EU: Origin Super Lightweight FRP Doors weigh fraction of a stock door. Origin AE86 doors are 15 lbs, where stock AE86 doors are over 75 lbs! And US: but it is difficult to determine how much stiffener belt weighs Total: Starting weight - 55lbs Ending weight - 22lbs source http://importsnc.com/forums/car-tech-diy...ction.html |

I just wish it was that easy in Poland, unfortunately, it isnt.
But dont worry, I think that we will do the trick. There are more maniacs who try to measure all this. Look here http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/ae86/p/155671 all we need to do is contact, combine our efforts, perhaps recruit someone. I think that it will help the whole ae86 community. Knowledge should be available, only then it becomes useful. |
