20v Silvertop - New Haltech ECU & Couple of questions

Hello Guys,

I've just embarked on moving to standalone Haltech ECU using their prem universal harness and I just have a couple of questions.

I plan to remove the intake plenum and move across to a MAP sensor so I need to plum in a vacuum source which is suitable. Can anyone recommend the best location for this ?

Also the Intake Air temp sensor I guess just needs placing near the ITB's ?

Also if anyone has any general words of wisdom to help this along I would massively appreciate !

To answer your question about the location of the MAP sensor vacuum, commonly people say it would be best to use the common vacuum that feeds the rail. It's located at number 18 in this picture:

That link has a lot of useful info re vacuum routing. I'm happy that I can t into the common rail as you have suggested. Just a couple of things I could do with some advice on :

1. Do I need to use a 1 way check valve for the MAP sensor ?
2. Do I need to use a vacuum damper ? If so can anyone recommend what to use for this ?
3. I'm not running power steering, can I just cap the vacuum ports off ?

Great to see a new member supporting the forum!
Is there a reason why you want to use a MAP sensor as opposed to Alpha-n
fuelling? I know that some aftermarket ecu's will allow load based (MAP)
ignition and TPS fuelling, is this something your Haltech can do? It is
probably the best strategy for itb's.

Common MAP sensor solutions for ITB's are flawed at best (if you're not using some sort of plenum). But alpha-N is arguably not better.
This guy claims to have solved the issue by running one map sensor per runner and passing the lowest reading to the ECU.
Quite a simple solution from an electronical standpoint, but a very pricy one if you look at the prices of MAP sensors.

I built my own analogue of this using more affordable but equally capable MAP sensors but I still need to finish a workable prototype
since the cheaper sensors need a 3D-printed 'manifold' as they do not have their own hose barbs.

Hello, thanks for the info. Just to give a little bit of background.
I’m no tuner nor engineer. I have took a lot of advice from the guys over at Battle Garage who recommended the ECU and have also provided me with a base map to get me going. Turns out that base map is Alpha N. I’m pretty much using the setup those guys have recommended which ties in with their base map.

Hello guys, just wondering if anyone can help me out with the O2 sensor wiring for the Haltech.... I have chopped the sensor wiring off (ECU connection) which has 4 wires photos attached.

I have the Blacktop narrow band sensor, the Haltech wiring only suggests 3 wires to be connected is there something I don't need connecting ?
