B18A/B/D B20A/E?? I've owned 5 vintage volvos... 3 1800(2 S, 1E) and 2 Amazon (122 in USA) there isn't an engine ANYWHERE in the world that is as indestructable as they are... Dan - You can | .... Losing the 440 might not be an "emotional loss" but the car sure had it's practical use, didn't it? I'd say it would have been worth the effort to replace the timing belt when you bought it... But then: achteraf kun je een koe in de kont kijken :-) |

I have a 03' GMC Denali. All I have done to it is HID's top and bottom, tinted windows, alarm, remote start,Kenwood flip out/touch screen tv DVD player, 2 flip down moniters, 2 headrest moniters, 2 10" woofers,1000 watt amp. No rims for me. Don't want't to attract thieves.
Whole windshield tinted 35% top to bottom. Who's got that? Peter Diaz http://www.shiftgearclothing.com http://www.ectoyotas.com/forum/ http://www.facebook.com/elfatherae86 |

@oldskewltoy, the redblock is indeed the family name for all originally red engines, although I was referring to the B200/230 engines, which have basically the same block but with low-friction components (thinner rods, cam-on-bucket valves).
I've abused my 280.000km 2l redblock from the day I bought it, doing regular trackdays with it. Only things I did for the first 2 years of ownership where regular oil and filter changes. Recently put new belts and waterpump on to ensure it keeps on ticking. The thing is: the car never had an engine problem, not counting a worn out waterpump. I've worn down two tired old 4age's in the meantime, and the third one looks like it's steadily on it's way (although it has plenty of miles left to go). I treat the 4a's a hell of a lot better than I do the redblock, but they just seem to wear out faster due to the high rpm's. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

ahhhh... well if you look carefully... that red block is a pushrod motor! 108 cubes... 108hp... not bad for a pushrod 4 banger back in 1964!!!
Btw... this pic is likely older then most of you....(from 1977) Btw... I'm the guy who looks like he has been working!! OH... the engine is hanging from our basketball backboard mounts... notice no come-along... or winch... I LIFTED that engine! As I lifted, my friend took up the slack. How did I lift it?? I stood on both fenders and HEAVED!!! Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! OST Porting service - http://hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19991 |

Cool.. always like to see old pictures... must have been pretty bad for your back, I've lugged a B21ET turbo redblock around a few times myself, and it is freekin heavy.

Heheheh, plenty of us youngsters doing crazy stuff like that, I remember clearly pictures of Zax doing an SR5 -> GTS swap not that desimilar.
And you're looking here at a nutcase that put his 13B back into his FC WITHOUT any help from a houst (the houst had broken down the day before). True, 13Bs are alot lighter then you're average banger and a mate was helping alot, but still, those things are heavy enough to make sure your back ackes for days lol, never doing that again But you are damn right, I'm just one year older then that picture Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Mux, 13B is not much lighter then an ordinary engine, just very compact. So no need to be so modest!
@Oldskewltoy: Cool pic! Was the P1800 in the background yours? A friend of mine does period tuning for the pushrod redblocks..with some headwork they push out 160 to 175 hp with a typical creamy 2valve torqueband. Used in historic rallies. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Yep... that was my 2nd one. I've owned 3. My wife has owned 2 Amazons(122). Actually... one of my "ultimates" would be a MINT 1800ES (wagon back).... with a 3SGE! Why fuck around with an old dirty engine that needs massaging... throw in a 3SGE and stock you are at or above 160-175 hp! Not only would you have similar power... but you will be MUCH "greener" pumping out 1/4 the emissions. One other weird (for USA) car I've owned... 1969 TVR Vixen S2.... (talk about a candidate for a 4AGE.....) Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! OST Porting service - http://hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19991 |
