4A-G con-rod bolts - strech or torque?
Im reuilding the bottom end..

my crank-bearings are loud as hell.. so im wonderig do i have to replace the bolts as well? are they strech or normal bolts, can they be reused? what els do i have to replace, other than grinding/polsihing the crakshaft, new bearings and gasket?

Crank bearings don't tend to get worn out easily I guess!

Rod bearings do, and the bolts are never to be reused (read Bill Sherwood's page)! Don't know about crank bolts...

I would get some ARP bolts or just toyota OEM rod&crank bolts. These bolts are the nr.1 cause of catastrophic engine failure at high rpm...If they break you will have holes in your engine..

So do i have to buy just new rod bolts, or the other "main bearing" bolts also (the ones that go into the bottom of the engine block?)

btw.. does 4ag hae a solid iron block w/ no sleeves, or does it have sleeves?

You got it correctly...cast iron, no sleeves. I dunno about the main bearing bolts though. The rodbolts take most of the stress as far as I know, but I dont know if the main bearing bolts allow re-use. Maybe the factoy manual has something to say on the subject? Otherwise you could try to pm Billzilla, he know's these things very well.

Run some ARM mains abd rod bolts, for the money the security is well worth it.

Rod bolts you should ALWAYS measure using a stretch gauge, torque has far too many variable which alter readings.

Mains you cannot measure stretch, but make sure your torque gauge is very very accurate, a good beam or dial type.

Check the crank first, it might not need grinding, just a very very light polish, then you wont need to go oversize on the bearings.
