AE85 axle dif hub to ae86??
Hi guys. i want to ask something. i own a ae86 about 7 years for now. Yummie! i m glad to have one for that long time Smile

Today a friend of mine came and asked me to sell my diff., rear axles and all the stuff back down there. and he said he would give his ae85's stuff. so simply we would swap the back of our cars. he pays me good money (about 2000 dolars and he pays the swap too) he is offering a great money so i started to think to swap the dif axle hubs etc.

but the ae85's part are good enough for a oem 86 or not? could they handle my 130 horses? would i a brake the axle or damage the dif?? i couldnt find any info and i need to learn as fast as i can. thanks Smile

IIRC you´ll end up with drum brakes at the rear!

The diff itself should be the same, check on the aluminium tag on the firewall if it says "T" under "Trans/Axle on the AE85 its the same.

Do you have LSD diff ? AE85 don't have it.
Standard FD for AE86 is 4.3. Most common for AE85 is 4.1
You have disc brakes. AE85 have drums
Halfshafts are different, also.

4AGE and rear axle is what makes AE86 over AE85. I wouldn't do that.

Quite probable the AE85 has an S series diff which has a smaller centre. If it has, you also need to swap the rear half of the tailshaft.
