4AGE ignition problem
Hi!

I need help. I have a 4AGE engine corolla. This runs like a 2-cylinder and 3-cylinder engine. This is alternating
periodically. The spark plugs and cables are good. I can rise the rpm to 6000 smoothly. But if I push the
accelerate fast, the engine's always knocking. I've already check the Ne and G signals. They look good, but I don't
know if the timing is good or not. The ECU sends the IGt signal to the igniter, but the IGf signal is not perfect.
This should be like a "shark-fluke". It has, but this is about 1V amplitude and it has a 12V square-wave at the falling-edge.
I can send picture if you send me e-mail address to my [email protected] mailer.

What can I do or check?

Sincerely,

Istvan Torma from Hungary

If the engine is knocking (= pinking) then your ignition is too far
advanced for the octane rating of your fuel. Retard the timing until
the knocking goes away. Then see what symptoms remain.
