4age 16v oem ecu rev limiter research
Im trying to find out if there are ecus with a higher rev limiter
If i find one that would greatly help me since i need to use the original ecu. So far i have find out Usa maf/afm ecus have lower rev limit 7500/7600 (rumor or true) Someone said to me early zenki belgium car didnt stop at 8000rpm Anotherbelgium zenki one stopped at 8000 rpm Confirmed 89661-12040 zenki belgium map ecu rev limit 7800 rpm I would need ecu number and rev limit and map or maf/afm Any help would be appriciated. Trying to make the best grp n rallycar possible |

Cheap & nasty way to up the rev limiter is to change the crystal oscillator. It's either that or you need someone who can change the setting in the EEPROM (Ron Hellenbrand would probably know best what can be done with the stock ECU, if you can get a hold of him).

4age 16v oem ecu rev limiter research
I know that U.S. AFM ae86s are revving only 7200, so some US guys buy ecu from europe to have revlimit at 7800..
I had some ecus which seemt to be revving to 8000, but I never believed too much in the stock rev-meter. I have a friend who had about 4 hachies for rally 2000-2006. He got an ECU hacked by an electric man, which were revving until 9000. but he didn't find any advantage with it as it was a stock engine, so its lost.. Will anyone check the timing crystal inside your ecu? I have heard it several times that if you change the clock-crystal you can raise the revlimit. but it will change the ignition and fuelling aswell. I tried it once in the past, but didn't put in enaugh work and knowledge, the original crystal was working on 4MHz, and I had one from an old video tape recorder of 4,72 MHz, but the car didn't start. My electric friend told me something about that the steps in MHz raise must be multiply-able of each other (????) because it won't work. Also you need to change it to a specific amount only - I think you don't need too much - around 8200.. so go and find a good ecu planner electric man and then please share your result |

thanks for info
i have read about the crystal oscillator but it seems like said it changes also the ignition and fuel maps which i dont want. I would be very happy with a rev limit arround 8300 dont need more. I might need start asking arround then Maybe first contacting someone local or Ron Hellenbrand |

If you do manage to get hold of Ron, get him to spill how he managed to get 180Nm

Ditn, Gr. N should be free regarding ECU as long as you use OEM wiring/harness.
If your car can start (not even run) with factory ECU you are OK. So, you cant change harness and ECU connector but what electronics/PCB you is free. Free ECU = free rev limiter. Gr. A have even more options. |
