86er's Track rebuild N2.??? Finally an update page 8
So leading up to last event with not too much effort we got the motor out and on the ground so we could finalize the dry sump setup
Sealing old oil pump and testing pan, we had o redesign front of pan as where the altezza oil pump joints to sump is wayy different in front Ras working on harness cleaning, sanding and fabricating and priming Final Pedals Mock up for dry sump pump mount and sealing off the oiginal oil pump, we got the great idea from a guy that is racing a f3 dallara beams in Aussie, they just took out guts from original oil pump and blocked openings in pump so no oil leaves it then seal up pump and put it back on, so no need to remove gear and/or get a shorter timing belt. ready to go back in Time to prime inside back up in air diff out started re installing stuff It was around here that we met were about ready to start and we met the snag of the stuck valve so we took off valve cover to discover that it was 2 stuck exhaust valves with some encouragement we got them freed up and she turned nicely Didnt take alot of pics around this time so skipping ahead till after we got it started after issues with leaking fuel lines, one or two oil leaks, too much fuel pressure, initially no oil pressure when swinging ( that one took us for a ride spent a while but after following oil through the system we found it was oil filter relocation block that was blocking oil so we by passed it and walah, strong oil pressure. We later learned (thanks Bally) that we had the oil filter relocator hooked up backwards). So she started but not for very long, sorry no vids yet at the time we didnt have anything with video and everyone was busy monitoring different things. We couldnt get her to idel would always die back down, im crediting this to the last of proper fuel pressure as we didnt have a gauge for the regulator so I ordered one and am waiting (anyone want to lend us one in mean time to set it?). We started it a few times and revved it a bit before it would go back off oil pressure climbed as high as 80psi, we also need to do a base tune for the itbs. We continued trying to get car drivable and installed rest of drive train and some glass, handbrake, etc, with current objective being get the car ready to test cleaned up oil lines in engine bay also after what seemed like forever I got my helmet and shoes "life begins at 8000rpms" - Going Racing |
