AGX dampers
I used the classic Camaro/SW20 AGX combination for my AE86.
The rears fit perfectly without any modification and are 8-way
adjustable. The front inserts need some combination of shortening
the strut plus spacers, to fit properly. They are 4-way adjustable
from under the hood.

For road use I have the fronts set on #2 from full soft, and the rears
on #3. This works fine with my lowering springs, and gives a ride
that is only slightly firmer than stock.

And yes, AGX are a lot more expensive than GR-2 !!!!!

Jondeed..
My prices are from KYB AGX themself.
So SW20 inserts in the front will do the job?
Got some numbers on them?

That's what Eric wanted to hear.

Rokuichi Power !!

Sx-Machine Wrote:Great.. But why 440 Euro?

The adjustable rear's come @ 80 dollars with shipping...
So the fronts will be? 400 dollar?
Because the shocks you can order are not AGX shocks: they are the "gas-a-just" shocks. They are not adjustable by yourself except by unmounting them like you normally would do with other shocks, like Konis for example.

The rear AGX shocks are adjustable in 8 steps from the side of the shock and the front AGX shocks are adjustable in 4 steps from the top of the shock: so no difficulty in setting them up like with the Konis. Wink

The complete set is shortstroke, not longstroke. The rear set is Camaro and front set MR2, just like what Jondee86 has.

found on the net:

90-95 SW20 MR2 front inserts
part # 765015

and

82-02 Camaro rears
part # 743019

costs for a set, through kybshocks.com of 2 times MR2 fronts and 2 times Camaro rears: $416.64.

Retail price 214 and 196.74, apparantly discounted to about 50%. Well, hmm, dunno about shipping, so the AEU86 shop price is very reasonable and explainable.

I found the numbers posted on toyotanation by a person named hachi-roku in an AE86 related thread... but better make sure it's the right stuff Smile I'm just assuming they're what is needed. Grin.

haven't checked the vague reference to club4ag yet.

I chose the SW20 front inserts (KYB Part# 765 015).

Because I wanted to use normal lowering springs (not make a
coilover conversion) I cut 40 mm out of the strut above the perch,
and welded the threaded section back on. Then I made some solid
aluminum spacers about 20 mm high to go under the inserts.

The inserts came without KYB gland nuts, and the OEM nuts do not
fit the AGX inserts. So I had to machine some material from the
inside of the OEM gland nuts to make them fit on the AGX inserts.
I also shortened the OEM rubber bumpstops by one segment to
obtain a bit more compression travel.
