And this is how it looks today:
I've placed the dashboard inside and shot how it was fixed by the neighbour. However I need to go back to him: I found another spot underneath the rubber of the window. It was only visible as a spot of 2 square millimeters, but underneath the rubber it is quite big. Perhaps it can be fixed with 2 compontent stuff, otherwise it needs welding again. It turned out I was right: the new mitsubishi cars have the same connector, but need to be rewired. I'll make a how to for it somewhere this week (without pics). I fixed it and now I have an ISO harness in my car. Jacked up the radio and it worked (almost) instantly. Oh, and I found out the factory graded my car as an AE85. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Nice work banpei!
Strange about the ae85, esp since you have an ae86 chassis number... Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

The only let down at the moment is that the dash isn't the same color as the rest of the car. Did get 80% dash in blue and I tried to make it blue for as much as I already have, but it differed in color too much. So I reassembled it with the original color: now I have atleast a dash in one color.
Perhaps some time later I should be looking for some parts in the right color. Anyone got some spare dash parts? I only need 3 or 4 parts! Oh, and my foglights and windowdefogger don't work: I still haven't found the switches. Anyone got a spare one? Another thing: my dashlights (for at night) didn't work and I took out the whole thing. Checked all the lights but no lights were broken. So reassembled it and it worked again! Hopefully the odometer is fixed as well. Knudsen Wrote:Havent it been on the board some time ago, people which chassis numbers were AE85? I think ive seen pictures of a Hachi with a AE92 VIN...It's not the chassisnumber, it's a part of the windshield, and it says AE85. My chassisnumber is AE86, but americans have a chassiscode AE86 for SR5 and AE88 for GTS. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

The dash lighting occasionally fails on my car too, on my car I just have to fiddle a bit with a white connector behind the light switch to get them to work again. Might help you find the problem a bit faster next time.

Anyway, met a cousin of mine today and told him about the car (he used to be a car mechanic) and he told me another cousin of mine bought a hachi originally back in 1985 or 1986. He had to choose between an MR2 and a hachi, guess what he chose. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
