Battery died. Headlights now go up but not down.

Hi Everyone,

I have a Trueno that was converted from a Levin. All along the headlights would pop up and go down when I use the light switch. However, a few days ago the battery died.

Because I was parked in an awkward spot I took the battery out to charge and then put it back in when fully charged. The car started and ran fine but the headlights now only pop up and do not go down.

I've checked all the fuses and they seem fine to me, but I can't figure out what's the issue. Would anyone have any ideas please?

Sounds like a relay issue to me mate, you may want to locate the relays and give them a well needed tap.

Failing that it could be your switch. Do you have the original light switch (Levin) or the Trueno one? They have a difference between them where the Trueno one can be pushed in to keep the lights up.

And I have the trueno light switch where I can push it in and go to the right once more.

Maybe the retractor unit has gone bad and thinks it should popup all the time... Check the input of that unit, since it gets feed from both the lightswitch and the highbeam.
