The run down on my 86
Here's the run down on my 86... Should give you an idea on were to go for a good drift set up...
1986 Ae86 Levin 3 door on CBY arches 8x15 Et +15 (195/55-15) front 9x15 Et +5 (195/55-15) with 50mm spacers on the rear. AE92 engine approx 135bhp @Fly (Soon to be 4age 20v) Rear. Trd 2way diff, Cusco Links and Panard rod trd non adjustable shocks. White roll bar 20mm Front. Trd short dampers +30mm RCA's with +25mm extra track (each side), Quaife 2.5 turn Manual quick rack with Uras inner arms with spacers, pass rod end outer arms on power steering knuckles, Modified Cusco top mounts to give a wider camber adjustment (More positive to compensate for the extra track) White line roll bars 22mm Bushings. Polybushes around Springs. 9kg/mm front 8kg/mm rear (Soon to be changed as they are too harsh for the road) Will be playing around with the spring rates for the road, either 6kg/mm 5kg/mm combo or 5kg/mm 5kg/mm combo. So my initial calculations are predicting. Geometry. +4.5 Degrees Caster, -2.4 Degrees Camber, 0 Degree Toe. This setup is a compromise for the road as the ol girl is my daily driver. Although I will be dialling in more Caster as she requires a bit of driver input in tight esses. But at least this will give you a good base to play with. Future plans are a Watts linkage, Equal length link bars, and currently modifying a set of Apexi N1's from a FC3S to do a ride height adjustable coilover (front and rear) She drifts great with this setup, just lacks power for the higher speed stuff. If your on a budget... Then I would recommend concentrating with the steering and geometry, inner arm spacers will give you a little more steering angle, caster is adjustable from std, to get more camber with stock suspension then get a NCRCA (negative camber roll centre adjusters) Same as mine, they will give you approx 1.5 degrees of negative camber @ stock ride height, plus they will give you 50mm (approx) of extra track at the front. If your funds allow it go for poly bushes before suspension units. Hope this helps... |
