Black Diamond Brake Lines - Fensport
I bought some Black Diamond brake lines from Fensport a few years ago and have just now tried fitting them at the end of my rebuild.
Lovely looking lines, however the fitting at the caliper end does not seal. I am using standard 2022 calipers on the front and standard rear calipers. As you can see, the chamfer is wrong (convex). There is a very small concave chamfer with a 1 mm wall thickness around the lumen. Spoke to Tony at Fensport whose answer was that they will fit as they are chamfered both ways. Well I have and they don't. They seep with only gravity. The old line is what the fitting looks like on a factory line Black Diamond haven't responded as yet to my email and I am contacting Tony again. I can only assume they have put the wrong fitting on the end of the line. Has anyone else had experience with these lines on an AE86 |

Update: Tony has kindly arranged for a set with the correct fittings to be made up and sent to me. I have posted the ones I had back to an engineer in the UK per Fensport for assessment.
If I get any update, shall pass it on. |

So update. Sent the lines back at my expense, never saw any replacements as promised.
"Hi we will get a set made for you and send to the same address, please return the whole kit to us, we would be keen to test them to find out what has happened,. Best Regards Tony" then i hear that "Your lines are now back, they have been tested up to 1000 psi and there is no problem with them. They have also checked the ends and there is no problem with these." Whether the lines could cope with 1000psi was never the issue, the fitting into the caliper was, and I still fail to see how these could seal, which they didn't. Anyway, this was part of a GBP 152 order, and I have spent many, many hundreds of pounds with Fensport dating back to 1996. Never again |

For anyone out there looking for braided lines, I can tell you that the Goodridge lines have the correct fittings, same as Toyota.
Buy Goodridge, NOT Black Diamond, which have the wrong fittings. |

I have break lines from Fensport and didn't have a problem.
It must be a bad set .... but I do have to agree that their costumer service isn't great .... |

Yes, I am convinced they have put the wrong ends at the caliper end, and they don't seem to be capable of understanding the problem.
The pictures are quite clear on that front. |
