Brake PADS:)
Hey Guys,
So in Jeroens brake thread we've been talking about how the brakes on the AE are good enough for almost all uses and swapping them is a waist of money unless it brakes the weight down. But there is another part in the equasion that we need to look at. Brake PADS! I need to buy some spare brake pads myself soon, want something that is usable on the circuit but also doesn't let me down in street driving. So no full race pads that need alot of braking like on a track to heat up and thus never brake good during street driving, but also no pure street blocks that work fine with mild braking but are warn after hard braking a few laps on the track. Mintex has been named, also Ferodo and Hawk, but what else is out there? Whats has worked good for you, what will you never use again? And for a brake pad noob like me, how do I know I'm ordering the right size of brake pads? Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Ferodo DS2500 would suit your needs exactly. Great pad that works cold too. Most people I know keep coming back to this pad (you know most of them too I guess).
I believe i heard Ivan saying that there weren't any for the AE86...so it might not be an option. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Ferodo is not standard for the hachi but with a little research you can use the pads of another car...
But whatever you do, don't go for the EBC shit....please, i beg you... No no no noooooooooooooooooooo |

They do squeak sometimes tough and leaves some dust behind! The best pads you can get in europe for the 86 are the Mintex. Or you cantry and get some from Japan or the US like Endless or Project Mu. They are very expensive tought! |

Endless sounds good, friend of mine imports endless blocks for Nissans, still waiting for a price from him.

Once again there are no magic pad compound from Japan. These pads are fine but are they worth their premium price?
Some of the American Pads are real cheap but offer the same or better performance as their EDM and JDM counterparts (if you can trust the reviews..). I'm going to try a set of cobalt friction or axxis ultimate pads for the miata. A set of pads for both the front and the rear inc shipping costs as much a set of DS2500 for just the front. Pretty cheap if they actually work. I'll post a review once I have them slapped on the car. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |
