Brake fading
I normally don't brake hard since I use my hachi for daily driving and drifting.
Last week I went driving on a "touge" and went full out. After 15min or so, on the way back down I was braking and shifting down to second when I notice that the pedal is almost on the floor, but the car isn't slowing down as it should be. Quite scary because it was a tight 180degree turn. ![]() This is what I got: New stock pads Old disks, but in good shape. New dot4 brake fluid New Goodridge lines. Any advice to make the brakes better? |

The road up and down to the 3 landen punt definately counts as a (small) touge but there are many more around there. It was indeed that road between epen and vaals.
It's only 5-3minutes one way, depends on how fast you are offcourse ![]() So you think that the pads are no good? I was thinking, since the pedal got so soft, maybe the brake fluid is getting too hot. But it's fresh dot4, like only 2 months old. ![]() What do you guys run on zandvoort, except the mintex pads? And how long do you drive there? Also, on the touge some parts only consist of short straights and sharp turns. So you use the brakes more often without them being cooled on the straights. PS. Fluid fade = mushy pedal
Pad fade = Firm pedal, but not slowing down. Try grippy pads first..they bite better and need less time to slow the car down. Same amount of heat going into the system (same car, same speed = same amount of energy dissipated), but larger temp-gradient so more effective cooling. They're pretty cheap to, so try out a set of those mintexes while you wait for a possible RX7 swap. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

I'm driving around with the mintexes M1144 for almost a year, they don't really fade that fast. But after a few laps on breaking before the tarzan they will get really hot and begin to fade a bit.
When i'm off the circuit the smoke comes out of the wheels ![]() But the serious upgrade is almost complete.. |
