Bushings question.

Hey there.
I know a lot of people here installed Prothane bushings.
So my question is, can anybody tell me how i can get these bushings in?

i did mine using a press made out of a piece of aluminium and a vice. i dont know if that is the correct method though

workbench :-) press them in with some oil on them works fine!

I also need one to replace my shocks so this is another good reason to buy one.

One of the bushings on the panhard rod has a metal sleeve around it (original), this might give you some headache's because it can rust in place, making it very difficult to get out. The new bushing wont fit unless you get the metal ring out...

For the rest, what the other guys said works fine. Just use a big vice on a workbench, and get some bigass sockets or pieces of tube that fit exactly around the bushings, and some smaller ones to press on the bushing itself. Then it's just a matter of applying lots of force and pushing the bushing out of whatever it's in, and into the big socket.

The bushing thread is a sticky at the tech section...lots of good info in there.

That ring has to come out?
I was affraid of that becouse the bushing looked way to big.

Look carefully when press in new bushings. This car have marks - bushings must be pressed only from one given side. The mark is small v-channel, milled on the "IN" side of each bushing housing/rod end/etc.
Good luck !
PS: You can use water instead of oil to lubricate all gummy elements also. I seriously doubt that classic rubber will withstand oil threatment.

I was thinking to open a new topic concerning prothane total kit but as i see this topic, i decided to use it.

I'm thinking buying a prothane total kit for my ae86.

It's a good idea? I heard some stories that prothane kit only lasts one year...

Feedback from those who have this kit installed please.
