Carina TA63 GT-TR - Suspension??
The answer is a definite no. The AE86 has a solid rear axle so there is near zero part compatibility there.
With some luck the differential might be the same though. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Carina TA63 GT-TR - Suspension??
Rear shocks will fit, as i've got Celica AA63 shocks on my KE20, and before that AE86 shocks, they are all quite similar. Rear springs will be different.
Anything for an IRS Celica A6/ Celica-Supra or derived model will fit (think Cressida GX71/ Corona TT140 etc.). Front inserts will go on, as will springs, but the whole strut assembly is different (king pin inclination is different on a A6 vs. AE86) and the bottom bolt pattern (where it mounts on the steering arms) is different as well. Anything for a MA61/GX71 wll fit the front as well. Diff will be an F-series 7,5" so that's deffo different But again, same as Celica-Supra/Cressida etc. etc. "It's all about the heart, the people who focus on parts, turbo's and all that stuff...they're just losers." -Shinji Minowa |

Carina TA63 GT-TR - Suspension??
Edit: I see The Doctor wrote almost the same as I did while I was typing.
The Carina IRS suspension is the same as on the Celica AA63/TA63/RA63 (with IRS) and Celica Supra/Celica XX of the same generation. I've also seen ads for AA63/TA63 springs on Yahoo Auctions mentioning also MX71/GX71, like this one: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u397932631 So I would say those are compatible. The front struts length be the similar to the AE86 though. My TA60 strut tower bolt pattern is the same as the E70 Corolla so I would say it's also the same case on any other A60 Carina. Are the top shock mounts the same as a ae86? Reason I ask is my mate has some complete ae86 front coilovers with adjustable top mounts And rear trd blues and springs The car already has a aftermarket diff I'm in Ireland and little to none of those models you guys listed just alot of ae86 parts lol |

Maybe you can coax an AE86 front coilover setup on when you also swap over the steering arms (knuckles?? never know how they're called, it's the things that bolt to the bottom ball joint). But you need to find ones which have about the same geometry/shape as your own arms to not mess up the steering geometry.
Top bolts can be drilled in a different pattern to suit. Still would give you a little bit of positive camber due to the different king pin inclination, but the camber plates can take car of that. You can also build your own coilover system, RallyDesign 2" ID weld on coilover kit sleeves made for MK1/MK2 Escorts will also fit our Toyota struts. Take out 4cm of the strut body and use short stroke shocks (i use Corolla AE92 GTi koni yellows in mine, they are 6cm shorter then stock). //edit: forgot to add that your TA63 front brakes will probably be bigger than ae86 ones. I can get 13s over my AE86 brakes easily, but my mate can only get some 13s over his AA63 Celica brakes. Not sure if they can be bolted to an AE86 strut, haven't looked into that.
