Doc's KE20: - really coming together now
robokill Wrote:Hye doc is it me or is the parts car in better condition ? Why not make that one new and place over all the parts?

No, the parts car looks better but was way worse (both sills where completely rusted, 2 big holes in the floorpan etc.).
Mine is just some rust on sheetmetal, if i replace the front fenders it will look way better Smile

The parts car is scrapped allready btw Tongue

About the fender mirrors, i don't really know what the exact rules about them are, but APK is only 1 hour a year, right Blush

long time no update, but i started stripping of the old girl, after she broke down 1 hour after i swapped in the tuned 4K engine Sad

Ah well, time to move on and fix it properly!
This is what happend the last 2 months (yeah, i'm taking this easy Tongue)

front end removed:

a LOT of grot around the front wings:

But everything underneath is quite solid, so i'm a happy camper!

Today i had to wait untill the paint on a car from a friend was dry enough to go on with repair damaging, so i stripped some more from the car:

door and splashshield gone:

all looking VERY good underneath:

other side:

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Doc's KE20: - really coming together now]

same story, very solid!!

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Doc's KE20: - really coming together now]

allthough i have slight rubbing problems due to big steering angle, you can see it on the inner fender Big Grin

Started on the rear, bumperless! Big Grin

rear lights etc. removed, again looking very solid!!

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Doc's KE20: - really coming together now]

only place which had some rust was hidden behind the rear bumper and a bit of metal:

won't need welding i think, it's only thick surface rust Smile

Endresult of today:

yeah, full respray and then build it again, but then better Smile

It goes LOWER and WIDER (WIDAR? Tongue) Big Grin

The rear goes down 5cm, the front needs to match to look good (so i NEED short stroke, because i'm on the bottom of my coiloverkit right now, and still not low enough to look good, let alone be as low as the rear will be Tongue)

How on earth did i miss this project Banging head . I spent the night reading this thread! BTW are they many earlier KE around Hollland?

While i was on holiday in Thailand at the beginning of the year, i saw quite a few KE10 on the streets. In fact, the hotel that i was staying at there was one driven by a garage owner and one in a carpark. Couldn't believe it.

But i guess over in Thailand, where there is sun all year round, alot more classic Toyotas are common and way way cheaper to buy as well!

There is only one true Nismo at AEU86

there are some KEs around here, and every now and then another one i didn't see before pops up somewhere Smile

Most of them are KE20 and KE30s, the KE1* are very rare (allthough there is a KE15/17 for sale right now Smile)

There are still a lot of KE's running around in Holland. We have a good policy for classic cars (tax exemption for 25+ years old) so they survive a bit easier. Wink

I think the majority of the surviving cars are KE30...
