Engine Check Light at High RPM
When I accelerate through to high RPM (6000+) the engine check light comes on for about 10 seconds and then goes off. Any ideas as to what this could be?
Engine is Bigport, air filter, extractors, exhaust. Otherwise stock. Cheers Simon http://www.super86.co.nz |

Do you have an oil pressure gauge?
Could be oil cavitation at high revs, dropping your pressure :/ |

AE86 dont have a oil pressure light! Check for fault codes. Does it loose any power/ missfires/ any other symtoms?

Nope, no other symptoms. I haven't had a chance to check for codes, but have done a track day since it started. Only a problem at approx 6500rpm and seems to be lower in rpm as the car gets hotter. It effectively is like a lowered rev limiter.
Engine has good oil pressure, and is not getting hot. http://www.super86.co.nz |

You've grabbed a chance to do a track day but not to check codes? If a 5 min job is too much trouble but a trackday is not I'd say you've got your priorities backwards.

Engine Check Light at High RPM
Thanks for your concern about my cars welfare guys! I actually had thought that i'd fixed it with changing plugs and leads as well as cleaning out all of the intake and electrical connections on the distributor, however it was not to be!
I'll check the engine codes and report my findings. Cheers http://www.super86.co.nz |
