Dude, all the oil from the pump is directed towards the stock
oil filter. Once filtered, it goes back into the block and lubes
all the bearings. If you are allowing a full flow of oil from the
original filter location to return directly to the sump, then you
have done a bad thing.

Your pic shows you have made a loop to the stock sump return.
I can't really see how you could do this without using some sort
of remote filter adapter and plugging the return port off A
photo or a more detailed sketch of the hose arrangement at
the stock filter location would help.

But as above, time to start checking bearings....
