Engine running lean
Hi guys, my engine seems to be running lean and is idling at just below 1000 from the moment I start the car. I know this isnt normal and was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of hepful advice on how to source the problem. Thanks Smile

Are you sure its running lean?

If youre going just off your low idle speed then your idle screw might be adjusted wrongly. And in my experiance, the idle speed of AE86's is never very consistant and prone to change slightly in differant conditions.

That's also my opinion, 1000-1300 rpm when started and 800 when the engine comes on the right temperture.

Running lean on idle shouldn't be bad. Just look at the idle rpm's.

Mine is 2200 cold and 1200 hot. But thats cuz i hate if the idle is to low when hot... With a idle beneath 1000 rpm, the 4AGE has a tendensy of hesitating when you startup from standstill.

Well, it's okay for me: it is not really hesitating, except when in reverse. Undecided

Being my first time driving the hachi in hot conditions i've obviously jumped the gun a little Blush It was a very hot day yesterday so it makes perfect sense for it to be idle at 800. I just thought the fact I topped up the oil just the other day may have had some effect. Thanks anyway guys Thumbs up!
