Foam shit in sills
I've heard alot recently about that expanding foam 'shit' that is pumped into the sills/chassis and supposidly is 'better' than a roll cage. Personally I cant see it being better than a roll cage? I first heard about his a few years ago when I was into VWs and I was told that it works, but not for very long when the foam starts breaking up/losing strength, then its basically just useless extra weight as you cant get it out again, and is also a nice water trap to rust your car from inside out.
What are al your views on this stuff, if you reckon its the bollocks I might give it ago. If not I'll just put a cage in anyway, and take it from there. Cheers. |

That is going to be a sweet car, I presume by the picture titles you'll be autocrossing it, thats all ways a good chassis tester.
Have you fabricated that roll cage yourself? |

Knowing Jasper here a bit I think the car will be seeing the streets and driftevents only. You dont fix up the bodywork on an old car if you want to autocross it over here (it ends up wrecked anyway).
I saw a levin hatchback on an online marketplace over here, almost completely unrecogniseable due to autocross damage...someone should shoot people that autocross rare cars. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

FYI: Infinity (Nissan USA) uses PU foam in some production vehicles.
I think up to 40% stiffness when using "light" PU foam is not so bad. |

jamiemirror Wrote:FYI: Infinity (Nissan USA) uses PU foam in some production vehicles.Hmmm, but not as strong as a rollcage. Anyway, I wouldn't put it in my car, unless I would have a purpose for doing so. Making it a replacement for a rollcage sounds only nice when it is about as strong as a rollcage... 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
