Forged rods for 4AGE 20v options
fkn16v Wrote:yes any combination works i believe, its only the supercharged version 4agze that doesn't work, its alot bigger then the other 2, about 243mm or something around that mark.

The 200mm (bigport) and 212mm (small port and 20v's) are the same outside dimension flywheels its only the clutch cover and plate that differs, many go for the 212mm simply for the extra clutch surface area and potential extra clamping force.

Just make sure you order a clutch to suit the right size flywheel, not 100% sure if its possible to mix and match between the 200mm and 212mm.
mix matching the two sizes doesn't work but can use both of the smaller ones on small, big, silver and blacktop. If you go for a uprated clutch flywheel combo you don't have to worry about clamping force etc as to be honest our little engines don't produce much torque in an NA setup i.e. Exedy Super Single will hold in excess of 200 Nm (twice then most tunes) of heavy abuse Wink

You can use some Blacktop with upgrade rod bolts. This setup will do for 9-9500rpm. But I've seen some Blacktops blowing the engine because of the weak rods.
Go buy a complete Blacktop engine, switch the head with a smallport 16v, fit some Wiseco or JE high comp. pistons and fit the ITB's. Then you have the light bottom end, the light 212mm flywheel, the expensive ITB's and the best head for N/A for the cheapest price.

I have bought a set of Atlantic (Carillo) rods and pistons (JE), this are the lightest setup I can find, but the price is also in the high end.

But don't underestimate the cheap china rods, I know a few who run 10.000rpm with 2 bar of boost without problems Yummie!

Project AE86 now begun.
