Making new doorcards
Well, I planned to build my own doorcards. I thinkt it could be a fun small projekt and I will try to make it as light as posible, without using real carbon, as this are insane expensive to get
See my trackday project here: http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/jimmis-tr...car/t/8631 My first idea was to strip the original doorcard, and use the top piece. Then glue it to a flat thin wooden shiet, like a Starlet. No problem But the next qustion are now, which material should I use to cover the wooden shiet? I though about black alcantara, but no other parts will be alcantara. Then I though about carbon foil. Its cheap and easy to get and it looks like the real deal. Many parts on the dashboard will be real carbon. I have ordered a flocking kit, so I will try to flock the top piece. The dashbord will also be flocket, so I think it will look fine. I could also flock the hole doorcard. What do you guys think? and does anyone have done a similar project? Project AE86 now begun. Cars I have owned: Toyota Starlet EP91 1,3 16v Turbo, 200hp Toyota Starlet EP71 1,3 12v Sport Mercedes 207D camper, 1977. Toyota Starlet EP70 with a 174hp Silvertop 20v See video here: http://videos.streetfire.net/search/Star...079edc.htm Toyota Corolla AE101 with a 164hp Silvertop 20v. (Evolution bodykit and candycolor paint). Volvo 240 2,1 (The only car I have maked money on). Toyota Corolla EE90 (my first car) |

door interior parts are really basic on the AE. You can simply make something that looks orginal but lighter in FRP. But, don't go fake carbon looks ricy
