Ignition problem:connecting T and E1 terminals->no effect
I wanted to adjust my ignition timing as written in the service manual: short T and E1 terminals => 10° BTDC
But connecting the terminals has no effect on the ignition timing.
The check engine lamp blinks (no error codes), so the problem is not at the diagnostic plug.

I adjusted the timing to 16-17°BTDC (it was about 30° before that Sad ), and the engine hesitates from 2000-3500 rpm (between 2500 and 3000 it is the worst).

The engine is a bluetop with AFM.

Has anybody any idea what the problem could be?

To set the timing, before you short the termials, you must be certain :

1. Engine idles around 850 rpm.
2. AFM idle switch is closed.
3. All accessories (lights, A/C, heater, demister etc) are OFF.

Then, when you short the terminals, the rpm should drop as the ECU
removes some timing. Even so, without shorting the terminals, 16-17
deg BTDC should be about right.

What does it mean? Where can i find this switch?

Inside the AFM there is a switch that tells the ECU when the flap is
fully closed (ECU switches to idle fuel map). Unplug the AFM and check
the resistance between pins FC and E1 (last two pins on the LHS when
looking at the AFM).

When the flap is fully closed, the switch is open (resistance = infinity).

When the flap is opened just a little bit the switch will close, and the
resistance will be zero.

Therefore, to be correct, what I should have written in my earlier post
is that the flap should be closed, and the idle switch open.

Thank you guys.

Jondee86, you were right, my idle was over 900 and that was the problem.
And I've adjusted the TPS, and the hesitation is gone.
