Installing 4AGZE in AE86
Hi Knudsen,
I'm currently (or was until this winter at least) running an 165BHP 4AGZE with the modded 4AGE ECU. I haven't had anything to complain about, I've mounted the intercooler ind the front, and haven't had any lag at all (tryed to connect the output from the supercharger to the inlet to see the difference). Firstly let me say that the change was doable, 1. If you choose to get the modded ECU, you'll have to fit a distributer from an 4AGE. 2. I'm currently using a thermostat housing from a MR2. I had to build my own coolingsystem, and that was the thing that took most of my time. 3. You also need to solder some of the connectors from the 4AGZE (injectors, tempsensors and such) on the 4AGE wireharness, since the old 4AGE doesn't fit. 4. You'll also have to make your own costum generator mount, because the supercharger is placed where the the generator was, and in the same breath you need to either extend the original wireharnes for the generator or make a new from the battery. I hope this helped, that's what I could come up with at the moment, but your more than welcome to cantact me if you've got any more qustions. Installing 4AGZE in AE86
I also have some question about the GZE conversion....
Isn't it possible to use the standart ae86 intake manifold with the GZE, the GZE one is known to be a restriction, and anyway the whole piping has to be redone, so isnt there a way to use the more efficient ae86 intake? I have seen someone do a 7AGZE with SC14 on club4ag, very simple and nice setup, and I am wondering if it would be possible on standart GZE on standart ECU... main difference imo would be that the Throttle body is after the sc, while in original setup the tb is before the sc... ae86 manifold would also allow the use of the ae86 water setup, which eliminates fiddling with external thermostat etc.. any ideas welcome... |

Yesterday i was thinking the same. Not just because of the water setup, but also because the GZE isnt streetlegal in AE86 in Denmark. With the stock intake manifold, i save alot of time when MOT is comming. Youtube Myspace and I´ll Google your Yahoo |

Knudsen,
same here about street legality.... and yes, that would be another benefit of the ae86 intake as the GZE ECU will probably run the engine almost perfectly in low power without the sc.... |

Installing 4AGZE in AE86
Hi,
Let me be the first to clearify, that it isn't possible to fit the original 4AGE intake, due to the size of the supercharger... That's also why the original GZE intake is so inefficient. What does it mean exaclty "modified stock GE ecu"? What kind of modification need to be done to handle the boost and much bigger injectors? How the ignition curve tailored to suit positive pressures? If it's can be done, there's a hope for poor NA guys to handle big cams and ITBs.

hum i actualy was lookint today to both intake sistems (i have currently a gze for transplant) and i was thinking how could it be possible with all the stuff.. but shouldn't be so bad like that... i guess.. or is the poor intake system one of the strong reasons for the poor diference of power betew mid rev and high rev? -==SimRacing Portugal==- |
