He said apardal, which i am obviously not. And i think apardal is from Greece right, and he is older than me. So that would explain the Old Greek thing. (just kidding around a bit, no offense )
EDIT: NoHachi fine, then i wil wait for your phd on ae suspensions. I've been reading about how to set up the hachiroku properly, but there are so many contradictions. |

So my search for and explorations on springs and shocks continues.. wont open a new topic. So about KONI's, what is the part number for the ae86 Shocks (yellow, adjustables)? and how much can i lower the car and still be safe with theese? I found theese: [code:1:5d4874c015]Artikel-Nr.: 86-1991 SP Bj.:83-87 Preis: 132,00 € inkl. 20% Mwst[/code:1:5d4874c015] is this correct? is the price okay? and please write some pros and cons on using longstroke adjustables, aginst using normal longstrokes. is it worth it? I also found theese: [code:1:5d4874c015]Artikel-Nr.: 80-2437 SP Bj.:83-87 Preis: 82,80 € inkl. 20% Mwst[/code:1:5d4874c015] Are theese the normal ae86, non adjustuble (longstroke) shocks? Furthermore i'd like to know if i can get Mehrwegstäuer back or not now that were in the EU? My next question is, does koni make springs for the ae86? and what are the stiffnesses? if not, what are some othere reasonable priced shocks for the task? And lastly, i was checking some sites (non-ae86), and they offer spring "komplets" with front springs being linear and the rear progressive. So my question is why put progressive in the back, but not in front? That would be all. For now. Domo arigato gozaimasu!!!!! |

Btw found a kayaba dealer here.. what about them? i think its the ordinary gas shocks for the 86. What are theese like? are they any good? Still wondering about springs.. |

Either domo arigato or arigato gozaimasu ;-)
Dunno about the shocks. Any lowering of the car will eat into the bump travel of the suspension. How much you can lower it depends on how much bump-travel you need. 2cm will be fine, 4cm is already pushing it but ok on asfalt etc etc. I would recommend against progressive springs..they make the car unpredictable and do almost nothing for comfort. Comfort is 90% a buisiness of buying decent digressive shocks, springs have far less influence. With progressive springs the car body first leans and then loads up the suspension. Works fine if you are doing just one corner, but gets you very tricky weightshifts during transitions, slaloms etc..drive a miata on stock suspension and you'll know what I mean. 2nd spin, or tankslapper can be ferocious with these springs. Thanks. I have another real basic question. What is the difference between coilover and normal setup, if both use the same shocks and springs? say yo use normal hachi struts, put in yellow konis and slap some 3kg/mm front, 2kg/mm rear springs. Then you make coilovers with the same setup. What is the difference? height adjustabiility? - what if im fine with only - 2-3cm? Or is the basic reason for coilovers on ae just that you can go shortstroke?
and okay just domo arigato this time (was trying to be extra greatful before ) BTW: can aynone write a word or two on the roll-point of the suspension/struts and the relation with grav-point/lowering - what to look for and what to be careful about. Im sorry i have so many questions. |
