Update time.....
Underneath shot Rear is fully polybushed. Brand new MCM/AVO rear coilovers fitted and panhard rod is now adjustable Done a few more bits in the engine bay. I'm working on the simplest way possible to do a RWD water kit for this. whats we have done works out pretty good so i'll be doing a full post on what we've done and people can use it for future referance Carpets in and cage has been bolted in properly, just seats left to finish the inside really... Tank is in and anti roll bar fitted and polybushed Tein camber tops on our MCN/AVO inserts Steel braided brake lines and everything given a nice shot of satin black Here is one of the coolest details of the car. We did a sunroof delete on it. Sunroofs are a pain in the ass with rust and leaking so we removed it complete with sliders etc and also removed the double steel skin thats there to carry the extra weight of the sunroof. We got a lot of weight out here, which is good for any performance car but what makes it better is getting weight out from the highest point of the car which is very important. Now most sunroof removal jobs mean welding in a plate ove the opening and filling it but i hate this kinda thing and i hate filler......so....... We made a complete roof skin in FRP off another non sunroof ae86 and this will be bonded on over the existing roof Next up is paint and i'll be doing an update soon with all the aero that is being used. Car will have everything FRP except the doors so the final weight is kept to a minimum MCNSPORT.com Jap, European, Drift, Drag, Circuit, Road, Race, Rally Tel: +353 (0)2223334 Mob: +353 (0)866063716 (Darren) / +353 (0)876616567 (Peden) E-mail: [email protected] Web: http://www.mcnsport.com - NEW WEBSITE COMING: Feb, 2009! |

Inspiration for this car is my old ae86 N2 when it had the 4AG power. Amazingly this car is now the Need for Speed 86. Loved the look of this car!!
So something ive been thinking about for a while and im gonna be doing on one of our shop cars is combining our Dmax style quarter with our Runfree style overfender and it looks awesome!! Ive fitted one of my own 15x9 -16 Work Meister CR01's here and as you can see its lost in there. After measuring the car would now need a 9inch rear wheel in -59offset!!!! Dmax front fenders will be used also. The wide looking front arch area on the dmax front fenders is now matched by the combo rear We will be using our Goodline style front bumper Dmac style rear bumper. We havent decide on wheels yet but they wont be CR01's Car will have our Runfree style sideskirts Tickets are still available, just e-mail [email protected] MCNSPORT.com Jap, European, Drift, Drag, Circuit, Road, Race, Rally Tel: +353 (0)2223334 Mob: +353 (0)866063716 (Darren) / +353 (0)876616567 (Peden) E-mail: [email protected] Web: http://www.mcnsport.com - NEW WEBSITE COMING: Feb, 2009! |

Little update......
So this is the first time ive sat down with a 20v in front of me and thought about the water pipe re-locate problem There is a few different designs out there for re-location kits and i wanted to see if the original parts could be modified without buying a kit, so here is what i came up with I fitted the engine and realised that it fits in the 86 with the heater and sensor block attached to the head if you remove the thermostat So...... I wholesaw'd a piece of alu to make a blank for where the thermostat was and welded it up. Heater pipes were the next problem, one will work but has to be shortened to get a 90degree hose on it and clear the bulkhead. The other wont work so i welded it up So i needed a return for the heater matrix so i used the original top rad hose position and welded a smaller tube into the original bolt on alu piece. Got some xtraflex samco hose to make a new heater hose For the new top rad hose i used the original bullhorn head to water pump piece, cut it and turned it so that it now faces forward. I also welded in the rad fan sensor bung from the original thermostat housing bottom rad hose flange and this will switch the electric fan now as we have retained the 20v water pump system and havent needed to covert to ae86 water pump which i think is silly So this is how the heater assembly now looks This is how the bullhorn piece looks fitted and it clears the original 20v alternator in its original position. Now all thats left is fit a new top rad hose and a new bottom rad hose from the rear of the water pump with a couple of 90degree bends and an inline competition thermostat which will be drilled for water bypass during engine warm up MCNSPORT.com Jap, European, Drift, Drag, Circuit, Road, Race, Rally Tel: +353 (0)2223334 Mob: +353 (0)866063716 (Darren) / +353 (0)876616567 (Peden) E-mail: [email protected] Web: http://www.mcnsport.com - NEW WEBSITE COMING: Feb, 2009! |
