OST-064 "Cleaned"....

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-064: Breathing on a 3 rib]

After getting it cleaned, I deburred the casting

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-064: Breathing on a 3 rib]

And then before porting, I had it "tumbled" so the head now looks new, no discoloration do to oils, carbon, or coolants.

from another forum Wrote:what does "tumbling" the head consist of? Is it similar to tumbling bullet casings?

Not sure (tumbling bullet casings...???) What "tumbling" means in this case is they have a large tool - it consists of a large cabinet, with a rotisserie that you strap the head too. The cabinet is closet, and it tumbles inside the cabinet. The media used is cast zinc shot.

a bit further yesterday..... 3 down....

OST-064: Breathing on a 3 rib
everything is back in my hands for final assembly....

head, with fresh valve job (machined .008")...

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-064: Breathing on a 3 rib]

along with assembled short block - those are Molnar Tech 40/20 H- beam rods

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-064: Breathing on a 3 rib]

Does anyone see the remnants of a problem in the deck???

It took a great deal of decking to get the block suitable to accept a metal gasket.... so much so that our deck is now .018" (piston above the deck!)

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-064: Breathing on a 3 rib]

The "fix", Cometic C4166-051, that should set the squish back to .033", or just a tick above .8mm.......

More to come..... Hurray!
