cool lower radiator hose
Hello, today the radiator was removed because it was leaking and had to be fixed and the coolant changed with new. The problem is that after the installation we started the car and let it run for about 15 minutes. The upper hose started to get hot eventually but the lower one was slightly warm at best.
Does this sound normal to you? The car has an old two row copper radiator and the temp is functioning properly (the operating temp shows in the middle on the gauge same ten years now and never overheats) at least that is what the temp gauge shows.....
Any suggestions?Smile

Upper hose getting hot eventually is the thermostat opening allowing hot water to go to radiator. Cool bottom hose is normal operation after the hot water has passed through the radiator.

Thanks for the answer, there wasn't much time left today so i will check if the thermostat is working properly tomorrow but from what i remember it seemed that it doesn't circulate the water even after a short drive when i checked again!

Start the car from cold with the radiator cap removed. There should not
be any flow visible in the radiator. When the engine warms up and the
thermostat opens, you should see the coolant start to flow in the header
tank. If you see flow the thermostat is working.
