Thanks for the help though I appreciate its one of those things you cant easily diagnose from someone who knows nothing about diffs describing it!
Another noise I have which I've never been able to find the words to describe until today is what can only be described as sort of like the noise a turbo makes spooling up like air rushing, it happens when i get above 20mphish. Minus my exhaust noise this is the loudest noise my diff car makes I'm like 95% sure its not to do with the fact my cars fully stripped and it being road noise it does sound like its coming from thee diff. Its probably the hardest noise to explain but thats the closest noise i can compare it to!

The final drive probably makes that noise. Mine sounds like an airplane taking off when i get to higher speeds.

If you hit a certain frequency it will most likely be the diff.

Just remembered the diff ticks in reverse does this shed any light on this?
