Those were two thrilling laps!
You can clearly see the Porsche has the upper hand on horsepower, but the braking and handling of the AE86 is far superior! I believe the problem was that it would double embed everything with a code around it. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Someone put some serious money into modifying the original 1983 pizzacutter rims into 3 piece rims:
I found it on Goo-net here: https://www.goo-net.com/usedcar/spread/g...17001.html No price indication, but I guess it would be serious money as the 20v engine is just as mad as those wheels! 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

These conversions are usually awesome. Not feeling this particular set of pizzacutters though.
The downside is that you usually go up at least 2 sizes, so if you want to stay with a 15 you'd need to start with a 13" wheel. FYI, the shop behind most of these wheel builds is Love20Bee (from the US). I'm sure there are other shops doing similar work as I have come across some japanese guys doing this to S13 wheels on youtube and I would hazard a guess that BarrelBros in Australia would also be capable of something like this. I was aware of Barrel Bros via MCM, but it's the first time I've seen Love20Bee. They made some truly amazing wheels and they do really nice conversions.
Yeah, so if you wish to have 3 piece 15 inch wheels these 13 inch pizzacutters would be a good starting point. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Wow! That car has had a tremendous amount of work put in. If I did that to a car it would then have to be one that I kept forever in order to justify the effort. I've seen a few of those re-barrelled wheels, nice idea. Hopefully whoever buys it actually looks after it, seen too many nice cars get bought by someone with no clue.

I found this video very inspirational:
It's a bit long (over 40 minutes), but in a nutshell: this young AE86 GT-S owner sees a (seemingly) bone stock SR5, chases him down and has a 40 minute talk with him. The owner of the SR5 is an old head who used to own various rollas and bought the SR5 9 years ago as a heap of scrap to relive his old moments. It made me realize I'm also an old head by now and a new generation of AE86 owners has arrived. What I loved was that the tuber is asking for help to find the SR5 owner a T50 to convert it to a manual. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

About those 3-piece pizzacutters: here's a vid of a (hungarian?) dude who built his own:

I was going down the rabbit hole of searching on Japanese websites again and came across this Asetto Corsa video:
