Propshaft options
I've been poking around under my car lately, as I'm getting a few drivetrain vibrations since I installed my TRD engine mounts and I wanted to see what I could do to calm it down.

When looking at my propshaft, it looks like the centre bearing (or the rubber bushing around it) is on the way out or knackered, since there is a fair amount of free play in it. It seems logical this is one of the causes for vibrations, since it happens from 2500rpm up to about 4000rpm.

I'm wondering what the best course of action might be? I've heard that the centre bearing is either not that easy to obtain or replace and it would be worth replacing the whole prop itself. Looking around though, the only example I can see to buy that has a decent write up is from Max at Illegal Garage. Would there be any other options I should look at? And how easy is it to get one fabricated?

Fabrication is not all that expensive... Just ask at your local propshaft specialist (they exist).

These people are very good, made me a single piece Ford to Toyota propshaft. No fuss or bother. Propshaft came complete with printout of specs. etc.

Center bearing is expensive, but you can use from Hiluxes from that year. Only difference is the fitment, but thats easy.
Look up my posts on that subject, you will end up with bearing costing 40something bucks.
Then see what's best option for you.

no offense, but the vibrations come from the engine mounts. Have the same issue in my car (using cusco ones) They are much stiffer than OEM mounts and there for give all the engine vibrations to the front of the chassis. (my hood used to "shake it like you mean it")

Only good solution imo is take oem mounts.

I found picture of AE86 center bearing support:

Many Toyotas from that time, +- 10 years have same bearings, the difference is how they are connected to chassis.
