These $200 wheels are fancy items. I think - ZaX uses homemade ones made from stock wheels - he replied to me with the pictures - and the wheels were not bad. Another option are "vernier" type - just redrilled wheels. About angle correction - depends of head shaving and cams - can be even 2-3 degrees! Again - I said that these are not obligatory, just improvment. If you could fabricate them up to 20EU per set (the set of used stock ones is $5 @ebay) - this is fine upgrade! |

Thats awesome. I assume you have to get a machine shop to make the inner pieces or is there a special piece that can be found somewhere else?

I prefer to cut the stock wheel and use inner and outer parts with additional O-plate to insure adjustability. That way machining will be required for cutting and for the O-plate only. Will provide pictures when I'm done.

I think I know what you mean, but wouldnt that decrease structural rigidity a bit more?

Depends of thickness and quality of steel, used to fabricate the O-plate. If you use stainless one (for example) - it will be the strongest part of the modified wheel. I can use also 4-point bolt-joints for internal joint (take a look at the stock wheel - if I use the 6 bolts, there will be some weakness near to the central hole). The outer bolt-joint will be 3-point - as shown to previous (Zax?) pictures. Offcourse one-piece wheel is more structural rigid but there is no way to make adjustable one-piece timing wheel (except "vernier" ones). PS: When fabricate, I try to use quality materials. If possible - to exceed specifications of the stock ones. |
