RPM too high on the clock's
Hi, my 86 look's crazy.
With the engine at the ralenti 850 rpm (+/-), on the clock's it show's 1800 or 2000 rpm. The clock's are OK, confirmed. Do you know where the problem is? Regards |

Why are you complaining? Now you can take some pictures and show everyone your car does 10000rpm!
Ralenti = idle |

Either your running some strange ignition that is not supposed to be there, or the 850 rpm reading your mechanic got is wrong.
The AE86 gets it's tacho signal straight from the coil if I'm not mistaken, so there is not a hell of a lot that can go wrong there if the car is still running good. At 850 rpm, the engine should run in a relaxed manner, the difference to 1800 rpm is pretty big so you should be able to notice the difference. Does it idle quietly and smoothly? How did you confirm the proper working of the clocks? FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Indeed ,it's a huge difference between 850 and 1800 rpm,you can clearly notice it by listening to your engine. ハチロク |

RPM too high on the clock's
Hi, maybe I didn't explained too well the situation.
When the engine is running idle 850 rpm (+/-) on the clock's it shows 1800 or 2000 rpm, or when running in 5 gear the RPM on the clocks are about 8.000 rpm... I'll post a video soon. Regards Sideways? Just for fun... not a way of life. |

... warmup? The 4age runs around 1800-2000 when started. When the engine warms up it drops. Normal cars idle @ 600-1000 straight away but some japanese cars don't. (specially the sporty ones)
