Rear Seat Belt Question
I did a search and could not find anything. Is it true that European model 86's had 3 point rear seat belts? In the US we only have lap belts for the rear. If this is true I'd love to get a set for the back of my coupe, if any one can help
Thanks, Rich |

Rear Seat Belt Question
True, in Europe 3 point seatbelt was an option. I think only 10% of the cars feature seatbelts.
You have to make a hole in the interiour of the rear C pilar. You can see the marking clearly on the casing, but best to remove them first and then double check the marking. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Excellent, thank you for the info.
Now can anyone help me find a black set of rear belts (for a coupe) if that matters? Rich |

Rear Seat Belt Question
From experience I know that other models/brands might not be suitable for placement on the AE86. The 3 point seatbelts are intertia belts, so they lock up if they aren't within 3 degrees of their designed angle.
For both the hatchback and 2 door the belts are mounted with something like a 50 degree angle. See also in this video: So as long as you can find belts with roughly the same angle it should work. But keep in mind those belts are there for safety, so make sure you verify if they work correctly. I always say better safe than sorry. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
