Rebuilding 4AGE
In near future I'm thinking of rebuilding my 4age engine, so I'd like to know if anyone has already rebuilded a 4age?
Where did you get the parts and which parts did you change? Did you buy original Toyota parts or any other (rebuilt kits etc.) ? Andrej |

Rebuilding 4AGE
I can think of a few things:
All bearings, all gaskets, all oil seals. Piston rings, maybe new pistons. Cilinders must me honed or bored out for oversize pistons. Cilinder head and block must be milled flat. Valves need to be cut, as do the valve seats. New valve guides. Good chemical cleaning job is also very good. Cleans out the oil and coolant passages. After that have it painted in a good engine paint, or do it yourself. All of these things must be done very exactly and the correct clearances must be checked when installing everything (especially bearings). FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Have you or your friends bought a Toyota rebuilt kit? Do you remember how much did you pay and where did you buy (order) the kit (Toyota supplier maybe)? |

Ok, gaskets are a must when disasembling the engine... What parts did you and your friends (CeeDee for eg.) change, when they rebuilt the engine? Piston rings, valve bushes (valve guides), etc... |

The TRD all metal 4AG headgasket is actually cheaper by 5 bucks over the compasite (stock) 4AG headgasket.... here in the states anyway.
Also, at the dealership, ALL prices are negotiable... go toward the end of the day.. and the salesmen will take just about ANY offer you have (at or above cost, ofcourse) to meet their quota for sales for the day..
