now to fabricate the tunnel. I decided to make it out of one piece sheet metal,
just to keep it looking neat and seemless.

seem welded the whole shell, underneath, inside, and in the engine bay, also patched up any rust, and gusseted the chasis in a few places for strength,

I dont know what to think about this, it is nice people try new things etc. but in my opinion the AE86 is a light car, quick, simple, japanese.
Now you are putting a massive engine in it and the s13 rear axle isnt especially light or so.
You are completely changing the cars caracteristics by doing such a thing.
Not my cup of tea this, but respect for the amount of work you are putting into this.

fair enuf, i like to hear peoples scope on this, id agree completely, im changing everything the ae86 is, im basicaly just using the shell. as a road car id agree with you, heavy and obviously not as nimble, but im building a race car, everything is chaged for a reason, the v8 is only 18kg's heavyer than the 4age, but will put out 300+hp and 400+nm. and will also give n/a revyy power like the 4age, the axle is also a good few kg's heavyer but is inipendant suspension, which means more grip, and better suspension setup, also can take alot more power stock, the gearbox and driveterain, is also just beefed up to take power, but the rest of the car is going to be aluminum, fiber glass, carbonfiber or removed. i have just taken aspects of the ae86 and made some bits better for racing, but at a price of weight. it should still weigh in well under 1000kgs. and its been done and tested and doesnt alter the handling much. id like to hear more views, opinions or tips, Thumbs up!
