Scottish Trueno rebuild - Nürburgring with pics!
So the day after i was up the west coast my tyres arrived. I got them fitted to the compomotive RFX wheels. i went for the Yokohama Advan AD08R in 195/50 R15. these are one of thee best tyres i have ever used. dry grip is unreal, very little to no flex in the side wall and overall feed back is outstanding. really wish i got these in time for the west coast run but i now have every confidence in the car for Nurburgring. the wheels themselves do need a bloody good refurb and a coat of paint but that can wait for now.
but... I've now broken the car.... the passenger (Left) front wheel bearing seal burst putting all grease all over the front callipers, discs and pads. Ive clean everything up and replaced the seal but that was a bit of a pain....... ....but the biggest pain in the arse is the fuel tank. at some point up Applecross the fuel tank took a beating and has bust the seam welds near 3/4 away around the tank. don't know how it held fuel at all let alone for 4 days after after the run. anyway i have a new one on the way. here is a link to my other video >>>>>>> https://youtu.be/uz3RVUqIZIY |

so i made it to the Nürburgring, round the ring and back home again!
15 hrs drive but damn was it worth it! didn't come without its issues though. for some reason Belgium doesn't like cars? people that are from their can correct me on this but they have to be some of thee worst roads I've driven on so much so that it managed to loose a grease cap at the front and a wheel nut. they where on before Belgium but not after lol. so after a dodge repair on the grease cap and a new wheel nut it was time to crack on with the task in hand. The track is amazing. didn't realise quite how hilly it was until i was standing next to it. while at the ring the 6hrs of Nürburgring was happening on the sunday which is a WEC (world endurance championship) event so this had to be seen. i do have videos but my internet is pretty slow and is taking a while for it to upload but i will put it up when i can. Car handled amazing. more understeer than anything but I'm putting that down to near stock suspension and my lack of track knowledge. other than that the car held up amazing. Power was an issue it has to be said. whilst you could put the car through corners flat out, it did struggle with the uphill sections and struggled to keep the momentum going into a corner after that. With me was garry in his 280whp MR2 and steven in his 500WHP tommi mak EVO. |
