You could speak with "Irishtwincam" on here, he supplies this coilover conversion where you can choose you own spring rate + spares & built it shock damper & rebound

Looking at the pictures I would say the car is on the bumpstops this would give the illusion of being very stiff and causing the bending/breaking of components when driven on the loose. If you don't have progressive springs you are getting loads of travel on very stiff linear springs. Are the springs dislocating from their seats on full droop ?

To answer all : I'll try to do pics of the parts . But I can say that the main strut shell is bent ,the axle is bent and the shell shock too !

I confirm that it is stock strut , and the lower spring support is not in the middle of the strut . And that support is not bent .

For better shocks , I ride with TRD/Tokico for 7 years now (12 races/year) , and only broke 2. I had Rally Bilstein on my TE71 and found them weaker and not so reliable ( leaking after 1 year ).

I don't know if I was on bumpstops , as I was really busy with landing and staying on the gravel road and on wheels .. Wave
The suspension parts of IrishTwincams are really tempting ,but budget is at low level for the end of year .

I think the problem here is that in rally you generally go for a lower spring rate. Tokico by default have a pretty hard setting range and you can brake even the best quality shock if you set them to hard for the spring you have. Set them up correctly, and they should last..

But thats just my humble opinion, not supported by any facts Big Grin

Hey Eircam, I had forgotten about those, mighty nice looking set that is. I remember irish posting that up a long long time ago. Lotsa guys having experience rallying that in ireland I suppose?

Can you tell me the model number of the Bilstein damper, I am just in the process of getting some reconditioned and re-valved to suit 300lb springs. I'm not convinced all Bilstein sports are the same settings / model number. It costs £65 per side to re-valve etc. here in the U.K.
Could this be an option for you ?
Looking at the photo's I reckon something has gone 'solid' at some point. I have had inserts go totally solid when hot and then go back to normal when cooled off, the easiest way to check this is to put some much softer springs on with the suspect dampers, drive the car over some bumpy road and then 'bounce' the car by hand at each corner while still hot. Mine were slightly odd in that they would stay 'solid' for days on end, only freeing off when the car was jacked up.

here is the number on the Bilstein shock : F4-P30 0098-H006

I 'm not really interested in rebuilding , as I had bad experiences with yellow and red Koni . I use the parts in races and there is no warranty .
So, when I got a pair of Koni rebuilded , they had leak at the end of my first race with them !!
I 'm very glad with TRD/Tokico , but they are no longer available ...
My first aim is to get springs
