Server status

As everybody could have read in the suggestions page and on the front page, a new server has been bought. I've shut down most resource consuming programs on the old one, trimmed down the kernel, but it still is hog-slow.

I've already installed all software on the new server, the only thing left to do is configure the server with the same settings as the old one and switch them.

My estimate is that it will be ready somewhere tomorrow.

Configuration had mainly been done right now. I'll see if I have enough time tonight to do the last part of the configuration and switch the two servers.

It took even less time than expected!

Had some minor downtime (about an hour) and the server is now up and running, and it's FAST! :o

I haven't got the stats up and running so I can't monitor traffic atm, but I'll fix that somewhere tomorrow.

I noticed the display of time is off about one hour. Systemtime of the server is okay, so that's not the problem. Maybe some sort of timezone thingy. I'll have to look into that as well.

Edit: apparently in the "last 5 active topics" the time is being displayed okay, but not in the topics itself. Weird.

WHOW! This is a major improvement I'll say!! Good stuff art!

In your profile you can set the time zone you are in. Its defaulted to GMT, so that will explain your time difference. Change it in your profile and the time should be correct.

Also I am not sure how PHP knows which time zone the server is in, but that may be system bound.

I know, and atm the server is compiling some apps as well. So you can imagine that this is a major improvement!

BTW: the timezone trick did it. I think the reason is that I edited my profile from the admin interface yesterday. Same goes for your profile, and I suspect the admin profile editor is not 100% the same as the user profile editor. Probably a bug in phpBB.

The speed of the forum (dare I call it speed) was really low before. Now it's truly perfect, no more annoying wait-times. Keep up the good work..I'll keep trying to drag over more hachi drivers.
