Spark plugs oily?
After realizing that the engine is not starting, because the spark plugs were too oily, I measured the cilinder compression.
1st cilinder was 11,5, the others 12,5. Engine is redtop with CR 10,3:1. The seal rings are new, so I guess this shouldnt be the problem... Somebody with same prob/ideas?... "..el camino's aren't supposed to make sense, craziness is what makes the world go around." - Car & Driver, 1984 |

have you been drifting or playing arround with the car without an oil catch tank?
If so, theres nothing wrong in there. With the g´s force, the oil goes to the intake manifold, and then to the combustion chamber, causing what you posted. If you dont have an oil catch tank, you can prevent this to happen by swaping the valve covers and aplying a litle longer hose. Cump´s Filipe Oliveira |

Normal pressure readings have no relation to oil piston rings. If your oil rings are worn - the same will occur.

Is this damaged gasket?
The engine should have new bottom end... gasket could be the problem. Did you have similar problems meshin? I havent been drifting with it, is has only 130km and has not seen yet more that 4000rpm... But I can also imagine that if a piston ring is damaged or the gasket is damaged, more oil will go in the combustion chamber trough this ventilation and will oil the spark plugs too. Check the coolant water for oil, check for smoke on exhaust and colore of the smoke.. and it could be gasket just like on the pictures, only 1st cilinder. Valve stem seals missing/damaged ??
Oil control rings installed upside down ?? External/internal oil drains blocked ?? Vent pipe blocked so that engine is pressurised ?? To get the amount of oil on the plugs that is shown in the pic, you must have oil leaking from the cam covers down into the plug cavity.
