Switching diffs for disc brakes?
I bought a 85 gts a while ago and I’m now getting to fixing it up only to realize it has drum brakes and a factory open diff. Would switching diffs be worth it? I would keep the diff if i could switch the drum brakes for disc brakes but is that even possible without changing diffs? I have the 282 diff code on my firewall

You can fit the SR5 drum brakes on the AE86 axle and that used to be a popular mod to ensure better lockup at the rear to initiate drifts. The reverse is possible as well as this video outlines:
Also can you elaborate a bit more on that diff code? 282 normally is tied to T282, which is the AE86 axle. I have seen S314, S302 and S292. All those are AE85, Australian SR and USDM SR5 axle codes. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Thx for the help btwTrue, that could also be the case. Many of our cars have been repaired with parts available and it's becoming harder and harder to find them. Maybe a stupid question, but did you verify it still has an open diff? 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

That is a very good question and i have not. Would i have to Open the diff or does it have any identifier on it? |
