That roller bearing for the input shaft looks really nice, obvious Toyota attention to detail & over engineered. If it was a factory only & no longer available or astronomical $$$, it can be replaced with a ball bearing.
Just expect a shorter life & maybe need some shimming to put it in the right spot. So what! |

He said, the number (30RT0653N) is not listed in any catalogue and I should bring an old bearing into the workshop, to take some measurements. I can do that, but someone needs to "borrow" me an old bearing, since I don´t have one... 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

my speedometer stopped working so i pulled out the cable and connected a drill to it and the speedometer reacted so it must be the sensor, pulled out the sensor and saw that teeth were missing and there were 2 pieces of steel in the hole.
1 piece is the clip that holds the speed drive gear inplace, the other steel part is the steel cover of the rear bearing.Gearbox functions good but i wanted to check out if nothing else is damaged so i swapped it out with a gbox that was lying around here. this box whines, only wants to shift to 2nd gear when the engine is warm or if you synch with first gear first, and the speedo seems to be of, might be an sr5 speedo drive gear. other than that the hachi keeps rolling and i can open my 'own' box without having to stop driving Brings me to this topic, im gonna check what the state is of my gearbox and might be in need of bearings but i don't want to pay toyota prices.if the exact same bearing cannot be ordered maybe we can look for an alternative.
