Hey
Nice looking tests . Question: why did you choose VEMS instead of Megasquirt ? Haven't been really looking, but yours AE86 is first i see with VEMS, and so many are on MS. thanks, regards |

Sticky this one lets make a large thread out of it. One point post if its WHP or HP ?
My engine: 7 ribbed 40mm crank 81.5 mm toyota pistons Ported bigport head 182CC injectors 260 in 9mm lift (Catcams: 7105137) 252 out 8.5mm lift (Catcams: 7105137) Standard intake with open air filter Standard ECU Super 98 unleaded fuel Stadnard header but cut at the 2-1 juntion to fit a 55mm diameter exhaust under axle. This results into: 134.8 Rwhp and 150.4 NM on the wheels On ideal situation I would be running 210CC injectors (which I have laying around) Engine is running a bit lean and I have a power distortion at 7400 rpm Cars: "99 Lexus IS200 "86 AE86 Kouki Panda Levin GT-Apex (restore project) "84 AE86 Zenki Blue Levin (project racer) Motorcycles: "02 Yamaha R1 "02 Honda Hornet S "08 BMW R1200GS |

robokill Wrote:VEMS and OMEX 600 ecu's are really nice. And you don't have to build em. They are used in kitcar build etc Builiding is not that big issue, beside you can buy it assembled. That cost more but MS is beside VEMS (as much as i know) cheapest ECU. OMEX 600 is near, but still more expensive. I am aware of much better and more expensive standalone ECU's (MOTEC, NIRA...) but i intentionally asked about VEMS and MS since these are (beside carbs ) cheapest options. So, at least from me, question stay: why VEMS and not MS ? |

PhatBob lives near me and answered all my questions about EMS.
No tuner, not other ecu manufacturer ever answered questions on how ecus work, or whether it would work as part of a plug and play system. Something I was keen to setup for Irish AE86 owners. I asked Bob try out a plug and play loom on vems several years ago. It was successful but showed problems in stock AE86 wiring. Helped me understand the benefits of crank trigger, good earths, shielding etc after looking at signals on a scope trace. I am happy to buy from Bob as hes honest and the technology is proven. I like how VEMS Maps the engine VE, showing you what its doing. Lots of reasons, but Im at work and dont have time to type VEMS works! http://www.skynet.ie/~eireae86 |

So 169hp/137tq @ flywheel seems right Nice numbers http://www.skynet.ie/~eireae86 |
