personaly I'd go with the 195/50 - it's a bit smaller than the original but not by much... 195/55 is ~3% more or you could even go with 205/50 which is ~1.5% bigger than OEM... realy depends what you do with the car. Daily driver, Motorway miles, Drifting, Gripdriving etc...

@bean bandit don't you think that as his rims are 8.5"s 55 is a better choice as the 50s may stretch too much..??
@super86 I think going for 205s will be better personally unless you want to have that beautiful stretched effect.. Cheated on my いたずらな女の子 and now I can't get enough of her.. |

Tyre recommendation 195/55 or 195/50
Use is hillclimb and trackday, but definitely would have concerns over a 205 being too wide to fit under stock lipped and rolled guards.
It has previously had 195/55's on 8's and they were fine - just wondering if there was any advantage to going to 50 series? http://www.super86.co.nz |

I'm on 195/50.
Take "smaller" tire actualy have some advantages. The first is obviously the size: smaller circumference act like a smaller final gear. So have less top speed but you have more torque (you have to consider that your speedometer will not be accurate) The second is the weight : same effect than a lightest flywheel (less power lost) |

Correct me if I'm wrong but having a lower profile definitely help you on tighter corners as well specially in drifting..

if you do hillclimbing, see if you can fit the 205/50 or even better 205/45 (smaller than OEM)... else go with the 195/50
